Going to those thorny, difficult-to-go-to-places: The Hero and Heroines Journey

The shadow - I welcome all parts of you, especially those shadowy, denied or forgotten parts of you that you have kept hidden. I know of the transformational potential held within sitting with what is most difficult within us, the  paradox is that when we are courageous enough to face what is most difficult, without an agenda, without cohersion, then we create the conditions for change and transformation.

That which is forgotten, denied, locked up in the store house of our mind can not chnage, it remains stubornly still and unchanaged. If you can welcome your vulnerability and the courageous spirit to peek at what is there... you create the conditions for chnage...

Time and time again I am convinced of the value of

My Approach

Relational and Humanistic - Attending to the relationship and the relational space and exchange that occurs between you and I, client and therapist, offers a rich platform for relational insight and exploration. Also encouraging  and nurturing the ongoing development  of your relationship to your inner world: the parts, characters and voices you carry within you. Inner relationship work supports you to strengthen a non judgemental, open and receiving attitude to whatever is present within you. Together we work to nurture a more vital and aware relationship in all areas of your life.

Presence - Being fully present in a therapy session involves being open to whatever is happening, responding to each moment by moment without a pre conceived plan or agenda.

Co-creation and Collaboration - The work is offered as a cooperative collaboartion where we journey together as equals. This offers a very different feel to a more medicalised/traditional therapy situation where there is an arbitrary separation between the therapist and client, and the therapist is the 'expert'.

Meaning - You will find the question 'What does this mean to you?' permeates our work together, explicitly and implicitly. Rather than ideas of 'wrongdoing' and 'rightdoing' we work with your deepest value and meaning.

Creative Processes (Creative Expressive Therapy)

Other-than-word and creative approaches will meet you at a non verbal and intuitive level of experiencing. Here people tend to find themselves less armored and therefore more open to exploration and growth work. Working in this way helps open and broaden the material you are working on, offering fresh perspectives and insights. Doodling, shaping clay, using stones and pebbles or other objects to indicate relationship dynamics, creative storytelling, visualising or other methods can be offered. Absolutely no creative merit needed!

Creative Dream Exploration (Focusing Oriented Expressive Arts)

The images and symbols of dreams can be baffling to our waking consciousness. Through the unique process of creative enquiry healing, value and meaning can emerge.

Body Oriented Awareness/ Somatic Approach - (Focusing Oriented Psychotherapy)

Your bodily sense and bodily wisdom is a vast source of rich inner knowing. Tapping into this stream of information can increase your intuition, reliance on your 'gut instinct' and help you to make more clear decisions.  Body oriented approaches invite you to connect with inner content that may be emotional, sensory or symbolic that is held in your body and support you to strengthen an ongoing bodily awareness.

Mindfull Practice - (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction)

No meditation experience or skill needed! Mindfulness can offer you a way to slow down, be present and to bring awareness to your present experiencing; often offering great relaxation, quietening of a busy mind and centering your energy. Offering you the gift of being fully present with your attention available for whatever is happening moment to moment.  .

Psycho-therapeutic Energy Work - (Emotional Freedom Techniques)

Energy psychology and the resultant therapeutic advancements are at the cutting edge of new developments in the field. The fusion of Western talk therapy and Eastern energy meridian therapy results in techniques that can help people to delve deep into the unknown, much like in hypnosis, and retrieve depth material, change and resolve inner turmoil and conflict, and transform inner beliefs and programming.  This pioneering approach takes 'the edge off' previously big emotional memories, works quickly to identify root issues and causes of emotional disturbance and offers huge emotional relief in a significantly shorter time than traditional talk therapy.

Therapeutic Coaching -  (Solution Focused)

My therapeutic coaching style holds your forward movement in mind, balancing that with your inner journey and inner resources.  I do not have imposed solutions to your problems but I can support you to identify the steps and actions that you want to take.

Eco Therapy

Taking the work outside can help to bring fresh perspectives.  Nature is also a dynamic, alive and creative environment that provides a rich backdrop to ponder, reflect upon and engage with therapeutically to aid your own discovery and growth. We can sit in my large and mature garden or take a gentle walk on a pre destined course.

Relationship

- Attending to the relationship and the relational space and exchange that occurs between you and I, client and therapist, offers a rich platform for relational insight and exploration. Also encouraging  and nurturing the ongoing development  of your relationship to your inner world: the parts, characters and voices you carry within you. Inner relationship work supports you to strengthen a non judgemental, open and receiving attitude to whatever is present within you. Presence -

Being fully present in a therapy session involves being open to whatever is happening, responding to each moment by moment without a pre conceived plan or agenda.

Co-creation and Collaboration

This is very different from the more traditional therapy situation where there is an arbitrary separation between the therapist and client, and the therapist is the 'expert'.

Hello and welcome

I am delighted to introduce the counselling and therapeutic approach that I have developed over 15 years of training and experience.

I offer an integrative and in-depth approach to personal growth and healing, meeting you at the level of heart, mind and body.

My therapeutic style is grounded in a gentle, person centred counselling approach; holding the importance of our relationship, curious exploration and deep listening at the centre. Weaving my extensive training from influences in body oriented therapies, mindfulness approaches, eco therapy and expressive arts.

Who Does Angela Work With?

I work frequently with individual adults who are experiencing life transitions. A time of transition is often induced by outer circumstances such as a big life change: moving overseas, divorce or separation, illness, midlife, loss and bereavement, a change in career, an identity change, parenthood, a new relationship etc. Transitions are times of emotional difficulty and hardship and are accompanied by a need to re-evaluate oneself, lifestyle and choices. I also work with people wanting to reassess their life purpose, direction and meaning.

More about Angela

I am a reassuringly relaxed, ethical and professional therapist and coach dedicated to providing an exceptional service. With over 15 years of training and experience and a proven track record of offering a supportive and transformative therapeutic relationship working with adults in face-to-face and online therapy and coaching.

If you choose to work with me, you can rest assured that you are in safe hands...

Radical Acceptance

In my professional and personal experience, I have seen people with mental health diagnoses being viewed through the lens of pathology, symptoms, and labels. In the spirit of radical acceptance, I do not diagnose and I do not label.

I work from the understanding that every one of us is an intricate, complex, and entirely unique human being. When we work together, I will work with all that you are bringing, working with you the person – not a label
