Facing life's challenges with support

Counselling

By taking that first step to reach out things can start to improve for you
Most of us have times in our lives when we feel low or struggle to cope. This may be due to a crisis, a particular life event, an accumulation of stress or difficult past experiences which are still affecting you now.

However, you don’t have to be in crisis to seek counselling, it can also be useful if you’re feeling stuck, confused, or unfulfilled in your life, or if you would simply like to work on your personal development, or reconnect with your strengths and resources.

Making the decision to come for counselling is not a sign of failure, but a positive step toward creating a happier life for yourself.

The principle that guides this work is the understanding that you have the potential and ability to change and to make the right choices for yourself. I hold that vision for you.

I will not tell you what to do. I will not offer you solutions or advice. If I did, I would be taking away the opportunity for you to direct your own life, to make your own decisions, and to make your own changes, your way.

Therapeutic Style

Alongside talk therapy, there are a number of illuminating and exploratory resources, activities, and processes that may support you...

You may find yourself doodling, journaling, experimenting with creative invitations, visualisations, or inner journeys, EFT tapping, mindfulness, body-oriented awareness... and more.  Of course, we can just sit and talk too!

What happens in a counselling session ?

Most often we will meet together in my therapy lounge, or meet online. When we meet, I will check in with you about your week, your struggles, and your wins, what has been difficult, and what you want support with ...

I will help you tell your story in a way that connects you to your feelings, to your body, your thoughts, the obvious and not so obvious, helping you uncover new understanding and insight. You will be encouraged and supported to come into contact with, express, and befriend all the different parts of yourself - mind, body, heart, and soul.

Through this process, you will get to know yourself more deeply, you will encounter new parts of yourself, create new insights and perspectives. You will also have the space to shed old stories and move forwards with new and more resourceful ways of being. Creating more choice, ease, and flow, in your life.

If you would like to make an appointment, please feel free to email me at: mcdonnellangela@hotmail.co.uk, or you can use the contact form on the website here

When you reach out, I will respond by offering you a free 15-minute (or so) initial chat. This will be your opportunity to share a little bit about yourself and what your hopes are for us working together. If after meeting one another, you and I would like to go ahead, then we will book your first session/s.
